AN EVER LIGHTER ANCHOR

01.11-14.11.2018
INTRO GALLERY
Sofia (Bulgaria)

AN EVER LIGHTER ANCHOR” is the name of the installation made for INTRO gallery, Sofia in 2018. The work contains three objects taken from my great-grandmother’s now abandoned house (a small coffee table, a wall mat, and an oval frame) and two of my works – a photo and a book I wrote, which will remain a singular copy. The 37 drawings, my texts, the quotes, in their chaotic appearance, represent the intimate aspect of memory and the awareness of passing time, and above all, they are an attempt to express a premonition about the cycle of life – or rather, as Buddhists call it, “Samsara.”

The journey, the slowing down of time, the aging, the loneliness, the memories, the fragility… What we leave behind before departure, what we get rid of, what we must forgive and forget – in order to become lighter, lighter and lighter… Taking off, landing, every departure is at the same time an arrival. My left shoe has roots, and my right one – an anchor… An ever lighter anchor…
